This past week was another rental camp. This young lady, Amori and I were on the dishwashing team. We spent our days drying an unloading dishes during the rush hours and then walking to the Craven home-about a 1/4 of a mile each day, multiple times-where I stayed with some of the other young ladies.
Mrs. Craven and her neighbor, working on registration for camp...:)
My "bedroom" for the week. I was too scared to sleep on the wire-rack bunk (top) and so the Craven's kindly let me use Mr. Craven's office area to sleep on a mat.:)
There are speed limits here on camp property too...:)
We didn't get to have too much interaction with the kids there for another church's camp but, it looked like they had a really good week! Here's a water fight going on. We had some amazing summer weather for Alaska-it got into the nineties at one point!
The Alaskans enjoyed the sunshine....;)
Tables re-set at every meal, ready and waiting....
Our kitchen staff-left to right: Zoey, Ashley R., Monica, Susie, Cheyanne Craven, and Jubilee....
Everybody enjoyed drawing at some time on this kitchen chalk board.....;)
Meridith and Amori-Meridith has joined us for the summer......
Enjoying our breaks in between busy meal shifts......
Mealtime was easier this time as we only had two shifts to work: 9:30 was Brunch and 5:00 was dinner. We had a staff lunch shift at 12:00pm, a post breakfast at 8:30 am, and a pre-dinner shift whenever the campers finished eating.
Serving out Jell-O cake....
Slopy joes......
Susie was a waitress this past week.......
Ashley R, also a waitresses, getting a platter of cake for her table.....
Staff mealtime....we were always ready.:)
Cleaning up sinks after each meal-ajax, a scrub, and sanitizer....
Cleaning the filter on the dishwasher......reminds me of how the Lord purges us from our filth, just like a silversmith.....
Folding laundry on a break at the Craven home...:) So good to have work to do!;)
Yukon C. and his "car"-a box for the body, paper plates for the wheels, two plastic cups for headlights and ribbon to keep it on his shoulders...;)
There's always a lot of laundry to do in big families!;)
Walking to the lodge....
Cookie time!;)
Another staff shift meal.....
We had to wear aprons and hair nets but we survived and it was always nice to be able to take them OFF at mealtime.;)
Yukon celebrated his 4th birthday this past week! We had a short little celebration in between shifts.
A family friend made this cute cake-she's really good at that sort of thing!:)
Singing.....love his face.;)
Present opening... and the bruise on his eye is proof that he's a real boy!;)
A knife!;)
Amori and I in motion during a staff meal clean-up....
Our dishwashing team: left to right: Amori, Mr. Garris, and I!:) We dried and put away while Mr. Garris sprayed and loaded the racks.
Daniel got this picture of Janice our camp cook-she's good at what she does!:)
This was another fun treat to see this moose so close up. I'm pretty sure this was the mother we saw last week! I was walking to the Craven's for the evening after a long and busy shift when I looked to the right and saw some 40-50 ft. away her!:) We looked at each other for a bit after I took some pictures. I decided not to wear out my welcome and hurried home!;)
Friday we spent deep cleaning the camp facilities....
We enjoyed another trip to town on Saturday and got in some necessary shopping. The scenery around here in Sterling, Soldotna and Kenai is so beautiful!
All of us young ladies, minus Janice and Meridith, have moved into one of the girls cabins for this coming week of staff training. That would be 5 of us: Ashley, Monica, Susie, Hannah (joined us this evening) and myself.:)
I'm am going by the nickname "Shelly" this summer-Caytlin got it from A-shely and it will be less confusing.;)
Each cabin has a few different verse plaques in it and so I thought I'd end with a picture of one of them. I thought was really appropriate. As we begin staff training this week keep us in your prayers!
I just realized I'm writing on the family blog not the other one!:P I'm much too tired to write up another now so I guess it will do on here.;)

Thanks for posting on your family's blog, because on the other blog I can't comment. :)
So great to see what you have been up to!! I miss you and hope to catch up with you very soon. It seems like it would take us a whole week for both of us to totally catch up!
So fun that you saw a moose!! We saw a mother and calf yesterday just outside the lodge window! It was an special gift from Jesus.
I hope all is well with you! Love you!
