We can always make our adventures sound so "picture-perfect" but the fact is that there was a lot of trouble getting the tent up (they put the shorter poles in where the longer ones went etc..) then Timothy kept wandering off so they put him in his car seat, which had he an accident in because no one heard him say he needed to go potty:).Next they drove down the hill to the store to get some food supplies and new outfit for Timothy. So it went: Pavillions, CVS, Home Goods and Khols. They got back about 9 pm to have a nice candlelight dinner:) Then it was off to bed. It was soo cold that they slept with the blankets over their heads, wrapping themselves as well as they could, so no cold air could get in.
Although, it was a rough night they were sure the second night there would be better. They moved the tent to a different sight with electric hook-ups to plug in a heater, enjoyed a fun afternoon and had a yummy dinner. Just after it had gotten dark and the cold began to set in my mom announced that she was really sorry but there was no way she could sleep there because it was too cold! My mom said it was the best teamwork our family had shown in the history of camping. Everyone was in agreement-we wanted to go home!
It took them exactly half and hour to pull down the tent and put everything neatly back into the van. They turned up the heater in the van and headed home.;) It's a funny story to look back on and laugh at.;)
The camp site:)
Danny enjoying Evie (Evangeline's new nickname-we like it and it sticks).....
Daddy and the boys lighting the fire....
Daddy, Mommy and Timmy.:)
A nice warm fire...
Hanging out with Daddy...:)
Playing in the trees:)
Posing for the camera;)
Daddy and Mommy found this really neat hot dog cooker! This makes cooking dinner for a big family SO much easier!!:)
Evie's laundry.....she's preparing for the country life...;)
Another shot of the camp site:)
In March, Daddy accompanied our Oma to Nevada for a few days for a relative get together. He really enjoyed seeing his cousins, and their kids and just being able to spend time with family.:) Of course Mommy and the kiddos missed him but, we were all glad he had the opporunity to go.:) Isaiah's birthday was the 27th of March. Daddy took him, Daniel and Ryan up to Big Bear to go snowboarding!:) (Ryan and I were able to get home a week before Isaiah's birthday which was a special treat!)
Ryan and Daddy didn't snowboard but they enjoyed the scenery and looking around.
Meanwhile, Daniel and Isaiah were learning how to snow board......Daniel looks excited here.;)
Isaiah putting on the gear....
The guys had a really good time and came home as red as lobsters!!? They forgot to put on sunblock-a mistake they won't likely repeat.;)
Our little Evie is growing so fast! She is 4 months now and she is full of life. I am so amazed every time her little hands and legs wiggle around! Babies are such a special gift from the Lord!:D
Our dolly:)
We LOVE that smile!!
She really is a pumpkin!
A couple Sundays ago, Evie wore the same dress that Caytlin wore years ago to our Uncle Johnny's wedding.:D Caytlin was very pleased about that.;) She and I are enjoying dressing her up in our baby clothes.
To jump forward to this month, now.:) Last weekend, our family hand the privilege of attending Oak Glen again! The Lord was faithful and we really enjoyed spending the few days together as a family. The conference started Thursday night and ended Saturday evening. So, we packed up the van and set off.
Ready to go!
In Yucapia, on the way up, we saw this old abandoned gas station on which was written- Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life. Pretty neat!
Evangeline's smiling!!:)
Daddy had taken the day off, so we had a nice slow trip up to the camp. We stopped at this country store, which had a really pretty view of the surrounding mountains and bought some apple cider. There was a lovely rest area right across from the store where the kids had fun playing and climbing trees.
(We got up to the camp Thursday night, unpacked. Time flew quickly. It was a really good time of fellowship and we were greatly challenged by the different brothers who shared during the meetings!:)
Breakfast-I think this was the closest we got to a "family picture." It was a really busy weekend.:P
Daniel and I were asked to do "crowd control" with the children's meeting.:) We had alot of fun playing with the kids after the lesson time was over. Here we were in the middle of "Duck, duck, goose" when Timmy decided he really liked his new friend and so he gave her a hug.:)
Timothy's birthday was that Saturday, and it happened that another one of the little boys was celebrating his birthday, that weekend too.:) So he was invited to have some cake which he really enjoyed, along with the other kids there.:)
Enjoying cake.:)
Camp cabins and scenery-the building on the left is the bathroom.
The older kids had alot of fun in the gym! They played the famous "British Bulldog," volleyball, basketball and so on.:) I just love this shot from during a round of British Bulldog-Ryan and Mr. Osborn are not posing! This was a serious game and they were both hoping to evade their pursuer at the same time!?
The dinning hall...:)
Just like last year, Daddy and the kids built pinewood derby cars for the race on Sturday afternoon. They really enjoyed spending the afternoon working on their cars and had a lot of fun working with others.:)
Working away....
Isaiah was drawing the shape of his car here....
Nate and Josh posing for a picture, really quickly.;)
It was really beautiful up there, very peaceful, and quiet. Caytlin and I had a nice time taking some pictures and talking. Sometimes, life gets so busy, you gotta make time for those short but special moments.:) It really is so good to be home to spend time with her.:)
Meeting-time/meal-time bell;)
Timmy hanging out with Mommy and Evie, after a diaper change, in the cabin.:)
Friday night was the talent show-Daddy played while Daniel sang-Hallelujah What A Savior!
Daddy wanted us girls to do something, so we decided last minute that Caytlin would sing and I would accompany on the piano.:) She sang the song, When We All Get Home-written by some sisters at our church-for a very special friend who went to be with the Lord several years ago.:D
The long awaited pinewood derby race, Saturday afternoon.:D
Sharing cars...;)
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.”
James 4:13-15
